Love and Monsters
Netflix April 2021

About
Seven years after the Monsterpocalypse, Joel Dawson (Dylan O'Brien), along with the rest of humanity, has been living underground ever since giant creatures took control of the land. After reconnecting over radio with his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick), who is now 80 miles away at a coastal colony, Joel begins to fall for her again. As Joel realizes that there's nothing left for him underground, he decides against all logic to venture out to Aimee, despite all the dangerous monsters that stand in his way. The fun-filled and action-packed adventure also stars Michael Rooker and Ariana Greenblatt.

Epic/Fail
Epic: Full of action and humour! Really love the storyline, great CGI and lovable characters. A perfect Friday night movie.
Fail: The ending was a little rushed after a slower pace to start. I wouldn't of minded it being a longer movie.
Standout performance
Joel (Dylan O'Brien) did a great job but I have to give standout performance to the dog, 'Boy'.

Who will like this?
Teens and adults, it's probably a little scary for kids.
See it now or wait?
See it now! Available on Netflix.
Is there a future series?
Rumours are there will be movie 2 soon.

Highlight
My highlight was the robot scene with the jellyfish.. so emosh!

Overall impression
You fall for the characters straight away and are on the edge of your seat the whole way through. It has some real emotional scenes and then some hilarious funny parts.. the CGI is amazing (sometimes too real for the monsters - eep!) an unexpected really entertaining film!
I loved it, easy watching for a Friday eve.
